US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Kohl said that in case of termination of support, "the balance will change in favor of Russia"WASHINGTON, February 28.
/tass/. The Pentagon believes that Ukraine is in dire need of Western support in the military sphere, but cannot say how much more such assistance Kiev will need. This position was stated on Tuesday by US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Kohl at a hearing in the Armed Forces Committee of the House of Representatives of Congress on American military assistance to Ukraine.
"It is true that Ukraine continues to depend on the help of the United States, our allies and partners. This will be the case for some time," he said. According to him, in case of termination of support, "the balance will change in favor of Russia."
When asked how many more packages of military assistance Kiev may need, Kol replied: "It's difficult [to say], because we don't know how the conflict will go on. The conflict may end in six months, it may end in two or three years. I think the president said that the United States will support Ukraine as long as it takes."
