Moscow. February 28. INTERFAX - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law suspending Russia's participation in the Strategic Offensive Arms Treaty, the official portal of legal information reported on Tuesday.
The law on Russia's suspension of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the United States on Measures for Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms will enter into force from the date of its official publication.
The law also notes that the decision on the resumption by Russia of the operation of the DSNV is made by the President of the Russian Federation.
As stated in the explanatory note, the agreement signed in Prague on April 8, 2010 provides that in order to ensure compliance with the provisions of the agreement, each of the parties has the right to carry out inspection activities.
"At the same time, the United States purposefully fails to fulfill its obligations under the treaty in this area of activity," the document says.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier that Russia was suspending its participation in the DSN, but was not withdrawing from the treaty.
