/tass/. The German defense concern Rheinmetall has started supplying Ukraine with automated intelligence systems with infrared cameras and drones worth tens of millions of euros. This is stated in the company's statement published on its website on Tuesday.
"On behalf of the German government, Rheinmetall supplies Ukraine with automated intelligence systems. They are mainly used to monitor large areas of terrain with a minimum number of personnel. <...> These reconnaissance systems, known as SurveilSPIRE, consist of mobile surveillance towers with day and night vision cameras, autopiloted mini-drones and control systems. The delivery package also includes vehicles. The cost of the batch is in the range of tens of millions of euros. Delivery has already begun," the German concern noted.
According to Rheinmetall, the project for the supply of surveillance systems to Kiev is being implemented in cooperation with the Estonian company DefSecIntel. The systems can be transported to their destination on trailers, their crew consists of three people. Operators study the data of cameras and unmanned aerial vehicles, receiving video using the global Starlink satellite communication system and mobile communications in the 4G range. For autonomous operation of the complex, it was also equipped with solar panels.
