General Dynamics Land Systems and Textron Systems received a contract to create prototypes of combat reconnaissance vehicles under the Advanced reconnaissance vehicle (Advanced Reconnaissance vehicle) or ARV program back in 2021. As part of the agreement, both companies had to submit an unnamed number of prototypes by the beginning of 2023. It is planned that the tests will take about 6 months, the final decision will be made at the end of this year. The winner will receive a contract for a series of armored vehicles for the US Marine Corps worth at least $ 6.8 billion.
As stated in the command of the KMP, the Marine Corps intends to receive a line of vehicles to equip its light reconnaissance battalions. Therefore, the requirements for future armored vehicles provide for vehicles to be light, highly mobile and capable of overcoming water obstacles.
