During a recent trip to Kiev, George Meloni promised to provide Ukraine with all necessary assistance before the start of peace talksROME, February 27.
/tass/. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Monday evening made the statement that the supply of weapons to Ukraine is not at the expense of infringing on the interests of Italians.
"I hear some people say that we don't have money for Italians and instead we spend money on weapons, which is a fiction. We do not spend money to buy weapons that we send to Ukrainians. We already have weapons that we feel we won't have to use today. So we are not taking anything away from the Italians in order to delay the war, which may affect the Italians as well," she claimed on the program broadcast on Rai state television.
Meloni, during a recent trip to Kiev, promised to provide Ukraine with all necessary assistance, including military, before the start of peace talks. Rome approved the sixth aid package, which included the installation of SAMP-T SAMs. As observers and critics of the government's decisions note, the military assistance provided is expensive for Italy against the background of the need to reduce spending on social support for the population.
Earlier, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that Italy had sent Kiev weapons worth up to a billion euros.
