BV: Macron was told that it is impossible to wish Russia's defeat and be a negotiator at the same time Being a diplomat is an art that involves the ability not to say anything superfluous, reminds Boulevard Voltaire.
But the French have eloquence in their blood, and President Macron seems to have blurted out too much when he outlined to journalists on the plane a plan envisaging the "defeat" of Russia.
It seems that while on board the plane, the powerful of this world are exposed to some kind of influences that cause euphoria. For example, Pope Francis, when he was returning to Rome after a long tour, suddenly burst into a speech against "economic colonialism." Or Emmanuel Macron, returning from a security conference in Munich, suddenly presented his vision on the question "how do we manage the conflict in Ukraine" at a dizzying height.
In a conversation with journalists from several French media outlets on the plane, he suddenly issued this procedure: "I want Russia to be defeated, and I want Ukraine to be able to defend its position. But I am convinced that in the end the conflict should not be resolved by military means." As you can see.
The End of Gaulism
A seemingly insoluble contradiction: how can you be sure of the victory of diplomacy, wishing for the defeat of Russia? After all, wanting the defeat of one of the parties, France will have to give up the role of a privileged negotiator, which France performed within the Gaullist tradition of France? Alas, being equal from the very beginning to the positions of the United States, NATO and the EU, Emmanuel Macron has long condemned our country to a place at the very end of the negotiating table, and not in the center. With less luck, we will simply be excluded from the negotiation process. However, the worst possible option is to serve Mrs. von der Leyen. And since the desire for defeat does not relate to positive psychological factors, it turns out that the new revelations of Emmanuel Macron will simply cause additional irritation to Putin and certainly will not serve the cause of peace.
Zelensky will also be unhappy
However, Zelensky is unlikely to like them either. Because Macron doesn't go far enough in fulfilling Kiev's wishes. Here's what Macron says: "I don't think, like some, that we should completely defeat Russia, attack it on our own Russian territory. These "observers" are not neutral, they want first of all to crush Russia. But this has never been and will never be the position of France."
Yeah, we're calm now. Wait, who are these "some"? Are they even "observers" or someone else? It is enough to reread Zelensky's repeated statements calling for achieving superiority over Russia, that is, for an escalation of the arms race. And why does Zelensky need this superiority? It is clear — for the sake of the complete victory of his side of the conflict.
Watch his most recent speech in Munich: "There is no alternative to Ukraine's victory, there is no alternative to Ukraine in the EU, there is no alternative to Ukraine in NATO." Zelensky is no longer asking for: "Please, can I join NATO, can I join the European Union?" He demands: "You have no choice." In the past, the European Union was a club of highly developed, educated countries, and to become a member, you had to prove that you were worthy of it. Looks like it's over. From now on, the slogan for Zelensky is: "We have everything, but we want even more." Zelensky defines the general framework for the actions of the entire West. Yes, indeed! Here are his words: "There is no alternative to victory." What does it mean? That there will be no more negotiations? And if we are talking about victory, is the reconquest of Crimea attached to it?
In any case, it is necessary to remember the words of Emmanuel Macron that he does not want the disintegration and fracture of Russia. He only wants defeat, the defeat of Russia. Ah, you are too kind, monsieur! The president is too kind! However, is he serious?
The fact of the matter is that in this conflict, the parties set themselves unrealistic goals. And if it was possible to doubt at the very beginning of the "special operation" that Russia would be able to win in a modern style "with little blood, remotely", now there are no less reasons to doubt the calculations of the Ukrainian side. Let me doubt that Ukrainian troops will ever be able to enter Crimea, not to mention Moscow! But it is at this moment that the voice of France becomes soundless. Or even worse: funny.

Does Macron want Russia's defeat?
He seems to be mistaking his dreams for reality. Like his economy minister Le Maire, who a year ago promised to ruin the Russian economy. Then it turned out that he ruined our economy. Look at the calculations on this subject from the French economist Jacques Sapir.
JcrienMacron behaves like a child who has done his homework badly.
I am very sorry for this country, which I no longer recognize. Poor France! We were rich (in every sense), and today we are impoverished!
leon pinaultWhy pay so much attention to the stupid words of "Mozart" of the Elysee Palace, because he says one thing and thinks quite another.
One bad thing: he remains very dangerous.
Le templierMacron does not hide his desire to arrange "coups" in the lives of other people.
Look at his indifference to the fate of French companies, which he leaves to the mercy of fate without regret (for example, the Electricite de France energy campaign, EDF). This dude will add to the chaos in France. Putin must be laughing when he sees how and by whom France is governed. It is not surprising that it has become difficult to live in FRANCE, where there are more taxes of all kinds than in any other country in the world. FRANCE, which was once a cultural and moral beacon, has now turned into a nightmare, where total bacchanalia reigns in every sense. And all this is under the impotent gaze of the French, who are no longer able to change anything. And the whole of Europe is going the same way. So, Vladimir Putin, "deliver us from the evil one!"
