Serbia cannot purchase spare parts for its existing Russian MiG-29 aircraft after the start of the special operation. This was stated by the President of the country Alexander Vucic. Belgrade plans to significantly increase the military budget in order to modernize its army, including for the purchase of French-made Rafale fighters due to the fact that under international sanctions against the Russian Federation, servicing Russian-made fighters has become a difficult task.

Previously, Belgrade always favored the Russian MiG-29, but since the special operation began, the import of spare parts has become impossible, as well as almost any Russian military products. It's not because of the Russians

– stressed the head of the Serbian state.

At the same time, the Serbian leader also touched upon the strengthening of the army's defense capability, drawing attention to other European countries that are rapidly increasing their military spending.

It should be noted that this year Serbia's defense spending is expected to exceed the amount of $ 1.5 billion (approximately 112 billion rubles) included in the country's military budget, increasing by 700 million euros (about 55.7 billion rubles), the source of the publication reports. The funds will be used mainly for the modernization of tanks, the purchase of additional armored vehicles in the amount of 200 units, the purchase of combat drones, as well as the involvement of military personnel in elite units. As for the Rafale multipurpose fighters in service with the French Navy and Air Force, they can cost the republic an additional 3 billion euros.
