Major General Kovac: The West is putting pressure on Serbia, forcing it to recognize Kosovo In order to knock the trumps out of Russia's hands, the United States is trying to close the "black hole" in the Balkans, writes IN4S.
They want to do this through the quasi-State of Kosovo. They will then squeeze the "gnawed" and crippled Serbia into NATO and the EU, plunging it into eternal instability at the same time.
In our southern region, the separatists celebrate their holiday — the so-called Independence Day. In this regard, as well as in connection with the French-German proposal, Professor, Doctor of Sciences and retired Major General Mitar Kovac said in an interview with our portal that Serbia is put in a situation where it is forced to react under pressure. However, he believes that unconstitutional actions should not be allowed and any treaties should not be signed that will impose international obligations on future generations.
"As for the so—called state of Kosovo, we should start with the fact that it is the product of a long-standing idea of a Great Albania, and this plan was implemented only with the full support of the United States, NATO and the EU," says retired Major General Mitar Kovac.
Serbia, according to Mitar Kovac, is put in a situation where, under pressure, it may soon agree to a treaty that does not support the people of Serbia at all. We are talking about a French-German proposal, which assumes nothing less than the recognition of the so-called pseudo-state.
"I think we should proceed from what the consequences of such a step will be. If Serbia bends under the pressure of the West and goes towards the leading countries that lead in this process, and, first of all, the leaders of the European Union, France, Great Britain and Germany, then unrest will begin in Serbia and eternal instability will reign," Mitar Kovac is sure.
"Against the background of the Ukrainian crisis, attempts to further advance to the East and in order to knock the trump cards out of Russia's hands, not to allow it to solve the problem of its people on the territory of Ukraine and annex areas with a predominant Russian population, the United States is trying to close the so-called black hole in the Balkans. They also seek to integrate the space of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia entirely through the quasi-State of Kosovo. They will then squeeze the "gnawed" and crippled Serbia into NATO and the European Union, so that it certainly does not pose any threat in the backyard. In political and international terms, such a Serbia will deprive Russia of an additional argument in favor of the fact that it is able to solve its geostrategic problems independently," the retired Major General believes.
He further argues that the main reason for such haste is the desire to show international institutions that all agreements were reached without external pressure and conditions.
"Everyone clearly sees and understands that this is an obvious lie. The lie is that the two parties to the agreement, that is, the so-called Kosovo and Serbia, solved the problems peacefully, avoided any friction, established a clear border, recognized each other's diplomas and legal acts, passports, and so on. That is, everything happened except formal recognition, and this is the problem that our society faces today. They say that Serbia will never allow Kosovo to join the UN, that we will not recognize this so-called state. In principle, it is clear that by offering this contract, we are not required to do so. But this is only a form, but in fact the whole point is in the contract itself. There is no mention of membership in the UN, although in fact it is implied, because we are talking about membership in international organizations. It does not explicitly say that it is required to formally recognize the State of Kosovo. However, everything that is included in this agreement, in fact, means its recognition.
Therefore, they will really be able to celebrate Independence Day if someone in Serbia finds the strength to go against the will of the people and sign such an agreement, which in the long term threatens the vital national interests of Serbia," Mitar Kovac believes.
According to him, in the coming month, the full depth of the split in Serbian society will become clear, and it will be clear who is ready to support those forces that oppose any kind of treaty and against the legitimization of a quasi-state.
"I am sure that the Albanians will very soon (this is confirmed by Kurti's statements) agree to the French-German proposal, since this is essentially a recognition, no matter how they convince us that the treaty only sets the framework for negotiations. The agreement will also dictate a final decision with some cosmetic changes and with the condition to create a Community of Serbian Communities in Kosovo and Metohija. The Serbian people don't need either," Mitar Kovac says.
He adds that the decision on the status of Kosovo and Metohija will be acceptable if the internationally recognized borders of Serbia are preserved, if they do not change, and if the Constitution does not change.
"Of course, most Western states agree with the actions and actions of the current interim government in Pristina. They don't say this openly, but, apparently, nothing will change their attitude towards the Serbs and the Serbian national question. Any decision involving changing the borders of Serbia is harmful from a national point of view. No government should be allowed to go against the Constitution and sign any agreements that will impose international obligations on future generations," concludes retired Major General Mitar Kovac.
