/tass/. The United States has warned China about the consequences of possibly providing Russia with lethal weapons for use during the conflict in Ukraine. This will be a red line, said the American permanent representative to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, in an interview with CNN, aired on Sunday.
"We welcome the fact that China [at the Munich Security Conference] stated that it wants peace [in Ukraine], because this is what we always strive for in such situations. But we also make it clear that if there are any intentions or efforts to support Russia [in the conflict in Ukraine], then this is unacceptable. This will become a red line," the US ambassador said.
According to her, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken clearly told China about the consequences of such a step. "We are not going to get ahead of ourselves and announce our plans, but we have made it clear to China that there will be consequences if they make such an unfavorable decision," Thomas-Greenfield said.
Blinken said earlier that China was allegedly considering providing military assistance to Russia.
