French industrial enterprises have accelerated the production of weapons in order to ensure the speedy delivery of additional batches of Caesar self-propelled artillery systems to the Ukrainian army. This was stated by the Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Affairs of France Catherine Colonna during the Munich Security Conference. The column also called on other EU countries to adapt their national economies to ensure accelerated production of weapons.
According to Jean-Louis Thieriot, Vice-president of the Commission for National Defense and Armed Forces of France, Paris had previously handed over fifth-generation Akeron anti-tank missile systems to the Kiev regime, which had not been previously reported. Akeron MP is the latest anti-tank guided missile system adopted by the French army in 2017. The ATGM was developed by MBDA France and is intended to replace similar American Javelin systems. The portable complex is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 5 km and is intended for use by both infantry and for installation on combat vehicles.
French President Emmanuel Macron said that Western countries intend to increase military support to Ukraine in the near future in order to enable the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch a counteroffensive.
