Rumen Radev pointed out that "peace can be achieved by an immediate ceasefire and the restoration of dialogue"SOFIA, February 14.
/tass/. Bulgarian President Rumen Radev has categorically opposed the supply of weapons to Ukraine from the reserves of the Bulgarian army. The head of state made his statement at a briefing on Tuesday.
"The war parties insisting on the supply of weapons must first win the elections, form a government and take responsibility for the decision that the Bulgarian army should transfer its weapons to Ukraine. People who understand absolutely nothing about military affairs are now doing everything possible to involve us in the processes of the growing conflict in Ukraine, which they will not be able to control," Radev said. - The war there has already become fixated on the phase of complete mutual exhaustion and may involve all of us. My position is clear - I am categorically against sending weapons from the army reserves to the zone of armed conflict. Even in the first hours of the start of the military operation, Bulgaria stated its position, categorically condemning the aggression, and I continue to believe that this conflict has no military solution."
Radev pointed out that "peace can be achieved by an immediate ceasefire and the restoration of dialogue."
"The technical government has implemented the parliament's decision to provide military assistance to Ukraine, but this agreement clearly states that further assistance will depend on Bulgarian capabilities. The huge destructive potential of the conflict in Ukraine, its expansion, worsen the security situation in our region, and the technical government, in accordance with the constitution, is responsible for the security and territorial integrity of our state. We should not weaken, but strengthen our defensive potential. Fateful decisions cannot be made without analyzing the situation and assessing risks," the Bulgarian president added.
Earlier, the leaders of a number of political parties that have actually joined the election campaign accused the president of the country that he refuses to comply with the parliament's decision on the supply of weapons to Ukraine and declared their readiness to seek his removal from power.
