Ukraine was supplied with Fennek armored reconnaissance vehicles, which are produced jointly by Germany and the Netherlands. This is reported by a number of Ukrainian sources. According to the Ukrainian press, special reconnaissance equipment is installed on armored vehicles.
Recall that the Fennek armored vehicle was created as a result of the cooperation of the Dutch companies SP Aerospace and Vehicle Systems BV with the German company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. Serial production of the armored vehicle began in 2001, in 2003 the first armored vehicle was adopted by the Dutch army, and in 2006 Fennek entered the Bundeswehr.
The armored vehicles were tested in Afghanistan, where they were used by both German and Dutch units. The following armament is installed on the armored car: 1 Browning M2 12.7 mm machine gun in the Dutch army version and 7.62 mm Rheinmetall MG-3 machine gun in the German army.
Also, a 40 mm HK GMG automatic grenade launcher can be installed on the armored vehicle. In addition, the armored car is equipped with an optoelectronic surveillance system and an Aladin unmanned aerial vehicle.
Currently, according to open sources, the Dutch Army is armed with 296 units of Fennek, 40 Fennek MRAT and 18 Fennek with FIM-92 Stinger. The Bundeswehr has 166 Fennek armored vehicles. However, now a certain number of armored vehicles have been transferred to Ukraine, according to Ukrainian media, the AFU has already begun operating this reconnaissance vehicle.
