/tass/. SpaceX has restricted the access of military drones in Ukraine to the Starlink satellite communications network. This was announced on Wednesday by SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell.
"There are things that we can do to limit their [the Armed Forces of Ukraine] capabilities <...>, and we have implemented it," Reuters quoted her as saying at a conference in Washington. The president of the company noted that Starlink "was not developed to become a weapon."
"We know that the [Ukrainian] military uses them [drones] as a means of communication. However, we want them never to be used for offensive purposes," the SpaceX president noted.
On January 28, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced an increase in purchases of drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine this year, for which it will allocate about $ 544 million. A day earlier, the department announced the formation of drone strike companies in the Ukrainian army, they will be equipped with Starlink satellite communication terminals.
