According to the Prime Minister of Great Britain, London accelerates the delivery of equipment to KievLONDON, February 8.
/tass/. British Challenger 2 tanks will be delivered to Ukraine in March. This was announced on Wednesday by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at a military base in the English county of Dorset.
"We are accelerating the delivery of our equipment and that of our allies to ensure that it arrives at the front line in the coming days and weeks, not months or years. Ukrainian crews who arrived [in the UK] last week will use Challenger 2 tanks to defend Ukrainian sovereign territory next month," he said.
Sunak also repeated that the UK intends to supply Ukraine with long-range weapons, without specifying what types of weapons are in question. According to him, deliveries of long-range systems are being discussed by NATO member countries, the same discussions will be held on the topic of fighters.
On January 14, Great Britain was the first Western country to announce that it would transfer 14 Challenger 2 main battle tanks to Kiev. On January 29, the kingdom's Defense Ministry announced the arrival of the first Ukrainian tank crews in the country for training.
Zelensky arrived on an unannounced visit to the United Kingdom on Wednesday. He held a meeting with Sunak at 10 Downing Street, addressed members of both houses of the British Parliament, and was received by King Charles III. After that, he visited military personnel who are being trained in the county of Dorset in the west of England. Zelensky took advantage of the visit to ask Western countries to supply planes to Kiev and increase the supply of other types of weapons.
