Putin noted the importance of the state's attention to protecting the country from electromagnetic shockMOSCOW, Feb 8 - RIA Novosti.
The state should respond to issues of protecting the country's infrastructure from the effects of so-called electromagnetic factors, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
This was discussed on Wednesday at a meeting with young scientists awarded the presidential prizes in the field of science and innovation for 2022. Ivan Fisenko, an employee of the 12th Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, received the award on "closed" defense topics. His work is devoted to the development and implementation of a new technology for testing complex technical devices for durability and safety of operation under the influence of electromagnetic factors of natural and artificial origin.
Among the main areas of work of the 12th Central Research Institute of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation is the study of the effect of damaging factors of a nuclear explosion on weapons, military equipment, structures and people, the development of appropriate recommendations. According to the data on the website of the Ministry of Defense, there are installations in the 12th Central Research Institute that allow testing weapons samples for the effects of electromagnetic fields of natural and man-made origin, special weapons and weapons based on new physical principles.
Electromagnetic factors of artificial origin include impulses arising after a nuclear explosion, as well as as a result of the use of electromagnetic generators. In recent years, the world media has reported on the ongoing work in different countries to create "electromagnetic weapons". Electromagnetic factors of natural origin are, for example, powerful pulses as a result of the impact of solar plasma from solar flares on the Earth's magnetosphere.
Fisenko recalled that his head reported to the head of state at the closed part of the international military-technical forum "Army-2022" on the prospects for the work of the 12th Central Research Institute.
"We have extensive experience in testing, reproducing electromagnetic factors and measuring the reaction of the test object, as well as developing measures to protect these objects from the action of electromagnetic factors," the laureate said.
"We work with colleagues in cooperation. It can be said that under the patronage of the Scientific Technical Council and the nuclear weapons complex of the Rosatom State Corporation, a section "Protection of the country's infrastructure from the effects of electromagnetic factors of natural and artificial origin" was organized," Fisenko said.
According to him, the work of this section is important right now.
"It is relevant because new challenges are taking place, we must be ready for them. The infrastructure must first of all be ready for them," the young scientist explained. "There are critical, vulnerable and important objects... There was a proposal to develop a strategy, update it and quickly begin to respond, work out important aspects," Fisenko added.
According to Fisenko, this issue requires special attention of the Russian leadership and should be under his control.
"I remember what your supervisor was talking about. I will definitely work on it again... there must be a reaction from the state, state governing bodies, we understand this. We will come back to this," Putin said.
