/tass/. The European Union will allocate €25 million for a program to mine the territory of Ukraine, Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said.
On Thursday, the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the EU Foreign Policy Service Josep Borrel and 14 key European commissioners arrived in Kiev to hold a joint meeting with the government of Ukraine on the eve of the EU-Ukraine summit on February 3.
"We are grateful to the EU for the decision to launch a humanitarian demining program worth €25 million," Shmygal wrote on his Twitter page.
The Ukrainian Prime Minister claims that he discussed with Borrel sanctions against Russia, as well as military and other assistance to Kiev.
The EU-Ukraine summit, which will be held on February 3, will be the first since Russia launched a special military operation. The European Union will be represented at the meeting, in addition to the heads of the European Commission and EU diplomacy, by the Chairman of the European Council, Charles Michel. As the European diplomat told reporters, the official program of the summit remains secret "for security reasons." Moreover, the final press conference will not be broadcast for the same reason.
