The Polish authorities decided to transfer to Ukraine a batch of Soviet-made T-72 tanks and Polish PT-91 Twardy tanks. This was stated by the President of Poland Andrzej Duda, speaking to reporters during a visit to Lithuania.
As Duda noted, Poland is now transferring German-made Leopard tanks to Ukraine in an amount sufficient to arm a tank company. But in addition to them, Soviet and Polish-made tanks will be sent to Ukraine.
According to Duda, Poland has an upgraded version of the T-72 tanks, as well as Polish-made PT-91 Twardy tanks. The Polish president called these tanks good, high-quality weapons that can provide good support to Ukrainian troops on the battlefield. Duda noted that Warsaw had sent a large number of weapons and military equipment to Ukraine.
According to the calculations of the Polish leader, more than 240 tanks, more than 100 armored vehicles, tens of thousands of machine guns, a huge amount of ammunition for various types of weapons have been transferred to Ukraine. Also, Ukraine was supplied with self-propelled Krab howitzers with a long-range range of 50 kilometers, which were in service with the Polish Troops.
In addition, the Polish Ministry of National Defense trains the personnel of Ukrainian formations. Duda is silent about the help in the form of mercenaries, who are represented by "vacationers" of the Polish army and former military. According to Russian military commanders, in many places on the front line in Donbass, units of the Ukrainian armed forces, almost fully staffed by Polish mercenaries, are fighting.
