The head of the Federal Air Transport Agency, Alexander Neradko, said that more than 180 foreign-made aircraft are being transferred to Russian jurisdiction. As the head of the Federal Air Transport Agency clarified, all these aircraft serviced by Russian airlines were removed from registration in Bermuda and Ireland. The reason for this, he called Western sanctions against the Russian aviation industry.
According to the official, the abolition of the so-called "double registration" continues.
Here 's how he commented on further steps in this direction in an interview with RBC:
It should be noted that before the start of the special operation, as a result of which the European Union imposed a ban on the supply of aircraft parts to Russia and flights to EU countries, there were about 800 aircraft at the disposal of Russian carriers, mainly Airbus and Boeing with foreign registration (768 – in Bermuda, and another 37 – in Ireland). In mid-March last year, these countries decided to suspend their airworthiness certificates for carriers from the Russian Federation. Soon, Russian President Vladimir Putin decided to register the rights to foreign aircraft leased in Russia. All these measures have contributed to reducing the risks of their arrest abroad. Due to the refusal of the authorities of Bermuda and Ireland to exclude them from their registers, this example was followed by other countries, including Turkey.
– Neradko noted.
Also, according to him, over the past year, the Federal Air Transport Agency conducted an inspection of the technical condition of 647 aircraft registered in the Russian register, while certificates of airworthiness were approved for almost 600 of them. As for the rest, according to the official, certificates will also be issued for them after passing maintenance and repair.
