According to the Israeli Prime Minister, he will consider this proposal if asked by Kiev, Moscow and Washington.NEW YORK, February 1.
/tass/. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he is ready to consider the role of a mediator in the Ukrainian crisis if a corresponding proposal is received from all interested parties. He made such a statement in an interview with CNN, which was shown on Tuesday evening.
"If both sides ask me and, frankly, if the United States asks me," Netanyahu said when asked if he was ready to mediate in the Ukrainian conflict. "If all interested parties ask me, I will certainly consider this [proposal]," he said.
The Israeli Prime Minister said that at the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis, he received an offer to act as a mediator. "I was asked about this in the early stages of the conflict in Ukraine," Netanyahu said, stressing that at that time he "was the leader of the opposition." He evaded the question of who made the relevant offer. "I was asked," he said.
At the same time, he stressed that he "did not strive for this," since the request was of an unofficial nature. "I said that there is a prime minister (at that time the post was held by Naftali Bennett - approx. TASS), let him decide what to do with it. He tried and failed," Netanyahu said.
