/tass/. The idea of the possibility of transferring American F-16 fighters to Kiev is gaining more and more support within the Pentagon, but no final decision has been made on this matter. This was reported on Saturday by the newspaper Politico, citing sources familiar with the discussions.
According to these data, some officials in the Pentagon are pushing the department to support the supply of these fighters to Ukraine. At the same time, according to one of the Pentagon representatives, as well as two other sources familiar with the discussions, this idea is gaining more and more support. "I don't think we are meeting resistance," a high-ranking military official told the publication. At the same time, he noted that a final decision on this matter has not been made.
The coordinator for Strategic Communications at the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, said on January 27 that Washington is in constant discussions with Kiev about arms supplies, but there are no new announcements regarding the supply of fighter jets, including F-16.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, after the decision of some Western countries to send tanks to Kiev, called for the provision of modern combat aircraft.
