/tass/. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban opposed Germany's sending heavy weapons, in particular tanks, to Ukraine. The head of the Hungarian government said on Saturday that such actions bring the Germans closer to direct participation in the conflict.
"At first, the Germans sent soldiers' helmets [to Ukraine], saying that they did not want to supply lethal weapons there. Now it's come to tanks, and there are already talks about planes," Orban wrote on the government information page on Facebook (banned in Russia, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).
"Step by step, the Germans are drifting towards war," concluded the Hungarian prime minister. He recalled that Hungary warned from the very beginning of the conflict in the neighboring country that it would not supply weapons to the Ukrainian army. "We do not supply weapons and we want peace," Orban said.
This week, the German government decided to send German tanks to Ukraine. The US administration also announced the transfer of its tanks to the Ukrainian troops.
