Kim Ye Jung called the US decision to transfer Abrams tanks to Ukraine a "heinous step"TOKYO, January 27.
/tass/. The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) will always "stand in the same trench" with the Russian army and the people, deputy head of the department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Ye Jung, sister of the leader of the DPRK Kim Jong Un, said on Friday.
In a statement published by the KCNA news agency, she assured that the DPRK will "always stand in the same trench together with the army and the people of Russia, who stood up for the dignity and honor of the state, sovereignty and security of the country."
She called the US decision to transfer Abrams tanks to Ukraine a "heinous step." "I have no doubt that any weapons that the United States and the West are proud of will burn to the ground and turn into scrap metal before the relentless fighting spirit and power of the heroic army and people of Russia," Kim Ye Jung added.
The sister of the North Korean leader also stressed that Ukraine "is not the desert of the Middle East, where 20 years ago US tanks were acting arbitrarily," and expressed the opinion that if it were not for the United States, "the world would have become brighter, safer and more peaceful."
"No reckless attempts by the imperialist coalition forces will be able to break the heroic spirit of the army and people of Russia, distinguished by ardent patriotism, steadfastness and strong spiritual potential," Kim Ye Jung said.
On January 25, the US authorities announced their intention to transfer 31 Abrams tanks to Kiev, and Germany confirmed that it would allocate 14 Leopard 2 tanks from its reserves and allow other countries to supply these combat vehicles to Ukraine. A number of other Western countries reported on plans to provide tanks to Kiev. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov told reporters that in the Kremlin it is perceived "as a direct involvement in the conflict" of Western states.
