Military personnel of the special purpose medical detachment (MOS) of the Central Military District (CVO) in maximum proximity to the front line provide assistance to the military and civilian population in the zone of a special military operation. They told about how doctors work in the medical special forces and how they got there on Saturday, January 14.
"Our advanced medical group of the special medical unit is located near the front line in order to provide medical assistance to the injured soldiers as quickly as possible. We receive military personnel and civilians who have come under fire. Patients come to us in various conditions — from mild shrapnel injuries to extremely severe, including traumatic brain injuries," said the head of the surgical department Alexey.
The medical team consists of highly qualified specialists: neurosurgeon, vascular surgeon, traumatologists, a team of surgeons.
Military doctors have all the necessary equipment at their disposal, including mobile X-ray machines that allow for the necessary examinations before surgery, an ultrasound diagnostic device. Doctors work around the clock.
"Since the beginning of the special operation, I had motivation, since I was born in the city of Donetsk, that is, Donbass is my native land for me. With the beginning of mobilization, I came to the military enlistment office, asked if military personnel were needed in my specialty — yes, I do. During his service, he was sent to a special purpose medical detachment. I am engaged in surgical work, I am a surgeon, I provide assistance at the evacuation stage to wounded servicemen," said the surgeon Kirill.
His colleague, vascular surgeon Igor, first got into the special operation zone as an orderly driver.
"What brought me here was the desire to provide first specialized care. I enlisted in April. As soon as the special operation began, I started going to the military enlistment office, tried to enlist, succeeded — as a medic-driver. After a while I got into a special purpose medical unit, where I already work in my specialty. Experience in vascular surgery — 4.5 years. Servicemen on the battlefield often have vascular injuries, and they need to be sutured as soon as possible in order to save limbs, and sometimes lives," the doctor explained.
