RIA Novosti: The Russian Aerospace Forces began using Ka-52M helicopters with "Product 305" missiles during their military trainingThe Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) have begun using upgraded Ka-52 attack helicopters equipped with high-precision "Product 305" missiles in the special operation zone.
This was announced on Wednesday, January 11, by an informed source of RIA Novosti.
The Product 305 missiles were previously used with Mi-28NM helicopters. Now they are attacking Ukrainian armored vehicles, objects and enemy manpower concentrations.
According to the agency's informant, "the possibility of using a new munition makes the Ka-52M, along with the Mi-28NM, the most important front-line strike means, allowing to hit command posts, fuel depots, hangars with equipment and other important objects."
The upgraded Ka-52M was developed after the use of the basic version of the Ka-52A "Alligator" in Syria. The helicopter is equipped with a new sighting and navigation system, a radar station (radar) with an active phased array antenna, has reinforced landing gear and extended armament (missiles "Attack" with a range of 4-6 km), "Vortex" 8 km), "Vortex-M" (10 km) and "Product 305" (more 14 km).
The rocket "305", also known as "Product 305", was first presented at the exhibition "Army-2021" as a development of the Kolomna company KBM. It is designed to defeat single and group stationary and moving targets at any time of the day. The missile has a high-explosive fragmentation warhead, the mass of which is 25 kg and provides high accuracy of hitting targets. Deviation from the line of sight is no more than two meters at a maximum range of up to 14.5 km.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in August, within the framework of the Army-2022 forum, signed a contract for the supply of upgraded Ka-52M and Mi-28NM attack helicopters.
The Ka-52 Alligator helicopter is designed to defeat armored vehicles and enemy manpower. It includes guided and unguided aircraft missiles and a 30-millimeter cannon. In addition, the "Alligator" can carry bombs.
At the same time, at the end of August, the military correspondent of Izvestia, Rinat Ginatullin, showed the combat work of the crews of the Ka-52 reconnaissance and attack helicopter of the Central Military District group of troops during a special operation to protect Donbass.
As the commander of the Ka-52 helicopter told, helicopter pilots use the "Hill" element of aerobatics when performing a missile strike, which allows them to launch a missile strike at a longer distance.
Russia continues the special operation to protect Donbass, which President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022. A few days earlier, the situation in the region had significantly worsened due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
