The other day, on January 8, planes from the Military Space Forces of the Russian Federation landed at military airfields of Belarus. This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian military department. The aviation units that arrived from Russia are the air component of the regional group of troops (RGV).
As noted in the message of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, a joint tactical flight exercise will be held with the arrived units, as well as with the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Republic of Belarus, also part of the RGV, in the period from January 16 to February 1. During the exercise, all airfields and training grounds of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus will be involved. The joint exercise will be aimed at working out the coherence of the actions of the allied aviation in the airspace of the Republic of Belarus when performing tasks for their intended purpose. In the future, the skills acquired during the exercise will be improved and honed.
It should be noted that the combat coordination of the land component of the RGV – Belarusian and Russian formations and military units, with which appropriate classes were held at the 230th combined arms training ground "Obuz-Lesnovsky", has recently ended. By the way, Alexander Lukashenko attended these classes on January 6.
"Comrade Commander-in–Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, formations of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation together with units of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus conducted exercises, command and staff training at the training grounds of the Republic of Belarus as part of the training of the Allied Forces," a representative of the Russian Armed Forces reported to the head of state. According to the officer, joint exercises were conducted with motorized rifle and tank units, special forces, including air defense units. "At this stage, the units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are ready to perform tasks for their intended purpose," he added.
Thus, it should be understood that upon completion of the combat coordination of the aviation component (in the form of a joint tactical flight exercise), the regional grouping of troops will be fully ready to fulfill its main task - to ensure the military security of the Union State.
Recall that the decision to deploy a regional grouping of troops on the territory of Belarus was made by the presidents of Belarus and Russia last year – "in connection with the aggravation of the situation on the western borders of the Union State." This was stated by the State Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Volfovich in an interview with journalists. He was also present at the training ground and noted that currently the joint group has already successfully deployed and is increasing its combat readiness. That is, the end of classes on combat coordination of units and military units of the Russian and Belarusian armed forces does not mean that the regional grouping will be in a "static" state. As the representative of the Russian armed forces reported, the group's troops are ready, but, as they say, the best is the enemy of the good. Therefore, classes with the troops will continue, because, as you know, combat and operational training activities are the basis for maintaining their high combat readiness to perform tasks for their intended purpose.
In addition, joint training means an intensive exchange of experience in conducting modern combat operations, which, by the way, the Russian military does not occupy. Alexander Lukashenko also spoke about this at the Obuz-Lesnovsky training ground. The President stressed that the experience of the Russian military is of great importance for Belarus: "It is very important for me. And not just for me. This difficult experience is very important for Belarus." "I will listen very carefully and use this in the preparation of our armed forces – Belarus and Russia – to protect the common Fatherland. The most important thing, the most important thing is that we have agreed with your military leaders that you will say about the shortcomings, because we will have to continue working in the same mode – to train both Belarusians and Russians," the Belarusian head of state said.
In addition to carrying out combat and operational training activities, the combat readiness and combat capabilities of the group are increased by equipping it with modern weapons, military and special equipment (VVST). So, for example, on January 6, another echelon arrived in Belarus with military personnel and VVST, who are part of the RGV. A day earlier, another batch of new BTR-82A, BTR-80K, armored medical and recovery vehicles arrived from Russia. According to the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, the equipment will be delivered to the military units of the Belarusian special operations forces in the coming days. It also became known that negotiations are currently underway between the two military departments – Russia and Belarus – on the purchase and supply to the Belarusian armed forces of modern combat vehicles supporting Terminator tanks and heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A "Solntsepek" of Russian production.
A responsible and comprehensive approach to ensuring high combat readiness of a regional group of troops is primarily due to the fact that it is, as Alexander Volfovich noted, one of the elements of strategic deterrence. "An element that should cool the hotheads in the West with its aggressive policy towards the Union State," stressed the Secretary of State of the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus.
