TSAMTO, January 9th. Ukraine has withdrawn from the agreement with Russia on the operation of the strategic missile complex "Satan".
This, as RIA Novosti reports, was announced on January 5 by the representative of the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnichuk.
"The Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on extending the service life of the 15P118M missile system, concluded on February 21, 2006 in Moscow, has been terminated," T. Melnichuk said in a Telegram channel.
T. Melnichuk noted that the agreement was terminated due to a radical change in the circumstances of its operation, which exclude the possibility of servicing missiles of this complex at Ukrainian enterprises, including the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau named after M.K.Yangel and the Southern Machine-Building Plant Production Association named after A.M. Makarov in Dnepropetrovsk.
Missile systems 15P118M (according to the Western classification "Satan") were developed by the Yuzhnoye Design Bureau in the 1970s.
