The Armed Forces of the People's Republic of China regard the appearance of the US Navy missile destroyer of the Arleigh Burke type in the Taiwan Strait as another provocation by the United States. This statement was made by the official representative of the Eastern Zone of the Combat Command of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) Shi Yi.
According to him, the destroyer squadron was warned by the Chinese military, who did not stop monitoring its movements, and therefore, the situation was under strict control.
It should be noted that the press service of the Seventh Fleet of the US Navy announced the passage of its destroyer USS Chung-Hoon through the Taiwan Strait in order to demonstrate the States' commitment to maintaining "security and stability" in the Indo-Pacific region. As the US department stressed at the time, a warship was passing in international waters. This is despite the fact that the United States de jure does not recognize Taiwan's independence. What kind of international waters can we talk about in this case? The Chinese Defense Ministry reminded the United States about this.
Recall that this is not the first US warning issued by China. As stated earlier in the Chinese Defense Ministry, Washington itself is heating up the situation due to the supply of Volcano anti-tank mining systems to Taipei. At the same time, the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the People's Republic of China Tan Kefei conveyed the position of his country regarding the fact that the United States, that their whole game with fire, will not lead to good.
Due to the increasing provocations of the United States around Taiwan, Chinese President Xi Jinping at the congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held at the end of last year said that the country's leadership would continue to make efforts to resolve the Taiwan issue through diplomatic means, without excluding, however, the use of force against the island for its return.
