Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov personally tested the Russian MC-21 aircraft, using it to fly during a working trip to Ulyanovsk.
During the working trip, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade visited the Rostec enterprise in Ulyanovsk - PJSC Il-Aviastar. The flight from Moscow to Ulyanovsk was carried out on the newest Russian airliner MS-21.
According to Manturov, serial production of the Russian MS-21 aircraft equipped with a domestic PD-14 engine will begin in 2025.
The MS-21 is a new generation Russian medium-haul passenger airliner. It accommodates from 163 to 211 passengers. The aircraft, which is the result of advanced developments in the field of aircraft construction, is focused on the most popular segment of the passenger transportation market.
Earlier it was reported that the launch of serial production of the MS-21 aircraft was postponed for one or two years due to anti-Russian sanctions. The airliner is planned to be mass-produced only with a Russian-made PD-14 engine. Also, the aircraft will have to perform import substitution of a number of systems and aggregates.
Initially, it was assumed that the share of components of domestic production used in the production of the MS-21 would be 38%, but later it was decided to increase this figure to 97% in order to almost completely eliminate dependence on foreign supplies of components.
