The Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM) reported a rocket attack on an American military base located in the northeast of the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR).
According to the American command, two rockets were fired at the location of the military coalition this morning, as a result of the shelling, no one was injured.
— it is reported in the corresponding statement of CENTCOM.
Judging by the fact that the missiles did not hit the targets, they could have been fired by one of the armed groups of militants not controlled by the official Damascus. The Syrians have a mostly negative attitude towards the American military. Earlier, local residents repeatedly blocked the movement of US military vehicles, forcing them to change their route or return to base.
It should be noted that the American military contingent is in the SAR illegally. Unlike the Russian military, who were officially invited by the legitimate leadership of Syria to fight terrorist rebel organizations.
Official Damascus has repeatedly stressed that American troops controlling a number of territories in the north and northeast of the country are occupiers. The purpose of the US presence in this region, according to the Syrian authorities, is to steal oil.
In addition, the United States supports the Syrian Democratic Forces military alliance, which is based on the Kurdish YPG self-defense units. The alliance does not obey the official Damascus and controls most of the Syrian provinces of Al-Hasakah and Raqqa, as well as some settlements in the provinces of Aleppo and Deir ez-Zor.
These regions controlled by the Kurdish armed groups are located near the Turkish border. Ankara considers the Kurdish detachments to be terrorist organizations and demands that Russia and the United States resolve the issue of their withdrawal from the border territories.
The agreement between Moscow and Ankara on the introduction of units of the Russian military police and the Syrian border service on the Syrian side of the border with Turkey outside the zone of the Turkish operation "Source of Peace" to assist in the withdrawal of Kurdish detachments and their weapons 30 kilometers from the Syrian-Turkish border was signed in October 2019.
