According to the White House press secretary Karin Jean-Pierre, the United States has not yet discussed with the South Korean authorities the potential holding of joint exercises, including with the use of American nuclear forces, since Seoul does not have its own nuclear weapons.
The White House also recalled that during a recent meeting between US President Biden and his South Korean counterpart, a possible joint response to scenarios in which the DPRK could use its nuclear weapons was considered.
Earlier, South Korean leader Yun Seok-yel said that his country was discussing with the United States the possibility of holding joint military exercises with the participation of American nuclear forces.
The growing concern of the United States and South Korea is caused by the statement of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un about his intention to increase his existing arsenal of nuclear weapons. This step, in turn, is caused by the hostile policy of the United States and South Korea towards the DPRK.
The DPRK has an arsenal of nuclear weapons and regularly tests missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads.
The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un, is often personally present at the launches of launch vehicles, usually flying almost to Japan and falling in the Sea of Japan.
According to South Korean experts, the DPRK's nuclear potential is a maximum of 60 warheads.
At the end of 2022, Kim Jong-un, in his speech at the 6th plenum of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, stated the need to repeatedly increase the nuclear potential of the DPRK. At the same time, a new 600-millimeter rocket launcher (MLRS) was presented.
