The promising equipment of the fourth generation "Legionnaire", which in the future should replace the equipment "Warrior" and "Centurion", will soon acquire its own features, the Ministry of Defense has approved the tactical and technical task for development. This was reported by a source in the Russian defense industry.
Research work on the "Legionnaire" has begun, the technical specification for the equipment of the "soldier of the future" has been approved, the work should be completed by the end of 2023. According to the results of the research, a technical task will be formed for carrying out experimental design work, within the framework of which the equipment will be presented already "in hardware".

In the autumn of this year, it became known that a decision was made to create the equipment of the "soldier of the future", which will eventually replace not only the equipment of the second generation "Warrior" currently used, but also the promising third generation "Centurion", which is under development. They decided to call her "Legionnaire". The research work, during which the details and composition of the latest Legionnaire equipment will be determined, will be carried out by specialists of the Central Research Institute of Precision Engineering (Tsniitochmash), who created the "Warrior" and are developing the "Centurion". This decision was made in the Ministry of Defense.
The equipment of the second generation "Warrior", which appeared ten years ago, is successful, but already requires replacement with a more modern one. The new equipment "Centurion", which uses a new composite polyethylene cloth, will provide increased protection while remaining elastic. Also, the "Centurion" will include an exoskeleton, active protection elements and even nanobespilotniks of domestic production. The replacement of equipment with a new one will be gradual, the first elements undergoing testing will enter the troops in 2025.
