Officer of the 3rd ZVO corps: the AFU soldiers fled at the sight of the Russian Terminator BMPTMOSCOW, Dec 12 — RIA Novosti.
The Ukrainian military are wary of Russian Terminator tank support vehicles (BMPT) and are hunting for them, the commander of the vehicle crew of the 3rd Army Corps of the Western Military District told RIA Novosti.
"In one of the last trips there was a battle, almost the enemy's dugout was trampled, the enemy fled at the sight of the Terminator. For them, this is an unfamiliar car and incomprehensible," he said.
The fighters also praised the engineers and everyone who worked on the creation of the BMPT. "High-quality and very reliable (weapons complex. – ed.), it shoots perfectly," the grenade launcher operator of the crew of the car said.
The driver-mechanic noted the high cross-country ability of the car and ease of operation. "It's some kind of dragon," the serviceman told reporters. One of the crew members noted that their car perfectly withstood a hit from a grenade launcher and "infantry fire". "The car is reliable, strong and efficient," the fighter shared his opinion.
High combat stability
Russian "Terminators" have shown high combat stability in a special operation in Ukraine due to a multi-channel complex of weapons and enhanced protection, an informed source told RIA Novosti earlier.
"The vehicles have demonstrated high combat stability, which corresponds to their specified technical characteristics and the concept of combat use," the agency interlocutor said.
He clarified that "the advantages of the BMPT consist in high security, which exceeds the security of the main battle tanks in service with Russia, as well as in a multi-channel weapons complex that allows you to simultaneously fire at four to five targets."
In addition, the source said, the experience of fighting confirmed that the review of the BMPT is much better than that of most tanks, and this increases the situational awareness of the crew. Also, these combat vehicles have a higher weapon guidance speed. According to the interlocutor of the agency, the participation of "Terminators" in the special operation will finally form the tactics of using these vehicles and determine their place in armored groups.
"Terminator"
The Terminator tank support combat vehicle was adopted in 2018. The BMPT is armed with two 30 mm 2A42 cannons, four 9M120-1 anti-tank missiles of the Ataka type with a laser guidance system, two AGS-17 grenade launchers and a 7.62 mm Kalashnikov tank machine gun.
Uralvagonzavod, which created the first version of the Terminator-1 combat vehicle, offered this BMPT to the military department in 2000, in 2006 UVZ created the Terminator-2 BMPT, the contract for the supply of which the Russian Defense Ministry signed during the Army-2017 forum. Kazakhstan became the first buyer of Terminator-type cars in 2011.
As reported by RIA Novosti in the Rostec Corporation, UVZ forms the appearance of a new, third generation of combat vehicles. The new version of Terminator will be able to work on all types of targets.
