Among a number of developments of Australian companies in the field of defense and security, presented at the recent SOFEX exhibition in Jordan, special attention was drawn to compact X-ray machines of a new generation, which are designed to make life easier for sappers, writes National Defense.
The article says that Micro-X Ltd., based near Adelaide (Australia), specializes in creating lighter, compact and durable X-ray machines.
- the publication quotes the words of the company's manager Sean Graham.
According to him, the use of new technology leads to a sharp reduction in the size and weight of the device. As an example, Graham gave the following comparison: conventional medical X-ray machines weigh as much as 1985 pounds (almost 900 kg), and Micro-X Rover devices (also developed by the company) weigh about 176 pounds (less than 80 kg).
Regarding the use of technology in the defense and security market, according to National Defense, the company, with the financial support of the Australian military department, has developed a manual X-ray scanner for sappers, which allows you to "look inside" unexploded ordnance or abandoned bags. At the same time, the device is light enough to be carried by a medium-sized ground robot.

The company explained that the new generation of X-ray technology has saved the technician from having to place a panel or plate behind the object so that the X-rays are reflected and create an image. Backscattering technology is used to return the image.
- Graham told reporters.
It is reported that compact X-rays for sappers from Micro-X Ltd. should appear on the arms market this month.
