Financial Times: Ukrainian officials threaten to attack Russian facilities even in SiberiaMOSCOW, Dec 7 - RIA Novosti.
In Kiev, after strikes on Russian airfields near Saratov, Ryazan and Kursk, they threaten attacks on other facilities in the Russian Federation, including in Siberia, the Financial Times newspaper writes, citing "an unnamed adviser to the Ukrainian authorities on defense issues."
Earlier, Kiev, through the words of an anonymous "high-ranking Ukrainian official" in the Washington Post newspaper, admitted responsibility for the attempted attacks on Russian airfields near Saratov, Ryazan and Kursk. The interlocutor of the publication, despite the official silence on the part of the Ukrainian authorities, said that "these were Ukrainian drones." Such an unofficial recognition of Kiev through major American media was already the second – the day before, the New York Times newspaper, citing a "Ukrainian official," wrote that the drones "were launched from the territory of Ukraine."
"We have no distance restrictions, and soon we will be able to achieve any goals on the territory of Russia, including in Siberia," the publication quotes the words of a Ukrainian "adviser" who said that such attacks could happen again. According to this anonymous representative, the attacks carried out with the help of drones will not help Kiev to win the conflict, but may affect the "influence operations" conducted by Ukraine on the territory of the Russian Federation, which "the West does not want to support."
The unnamed "adviser" noted that the drones in question are neither Ukroboronprom models nor modified Soviet drones, but rather are a joint initiative of the government and the private sector, which can "often" produce new ones.
The publication also quotes the words of a Ukrainian engineer allegedly involved in the creation of drones for Ukrainian troops. According to him, the drones used for attacks on Russian airfields could fly at a speed close to the speed of sound, and replacing the original Tu-141 camera would also allow moving more than 50 kilograms of explosives, "and maybe even 100 kilograms." At the same time, he noted that it takes time to produce such equipment from scratch and replenish stocks.
As previously reported in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Ukraine made an attempt on Monday to attack Russian military airfields in the Saratov and Ryazan regions with Soviet-made jet drones, the air defense intercepted these drones, but as a result of the attack three Russian soldiers were killed, four more were injured. According to the Russian defense ministry, despite the attempts of the Kiev regime to disrupt the combat work of Russian long-range aviation, a massive strike was carried out on objects in Ukraine around 15.00 on Monday, all 17 designated targets were hit. It was noted that the strike disrupted the transfer of Ukrainian troops and foreign weapons by rail to combat areas
On Tuesday morning, the governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, reported a drone attack on an oil storage tank near the Kursk airfield, which resulted in a fire. People were not injured. The Kursk region, including the regional center, has been repeatedly subjected to artillery shelling from Ukraine, as well as drone attacks. The region borders the Sumy region of Ukraine, the distance from Kursk to Sumy in a straight line is about 130 kilometers.
