Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation: the United States is withdrawing biolabs to third countries because of the risk of accidents on them MOSCOW, November 26/ Sputnik Radio.

The United States is withdrawing its biolabs to the territory of third countries due to the danger of accidents on them, said the head of the radiation, chemical and biological protection forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov.

"The high risk of emergencies in American biological laboratories is one of the reasons for their withdrawal from national jurisdiction and transfer to the territory of third countries, including Ukraine and other states. This explains the deterioration of the epidemic situation in their locations, the appearance of diseases unusual for these regions and their carriers," the military commander said .

He noted that in the United States, the system for monitoring safety violations in biological laboratories is mainly decentralized and covers only facilities that receive funding from the federal budget.

There is practically no control over private laboratories, despite the fact that they conduct research with particularly dangerous pathogens, Kirillov stressed.

This increases the risks of conducting research bypassing the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons (BTWC) and gross violation of safety requirements for such tests, said the head of the RCBZ troops.

At the same time, the general stressed that the United States continues to include in its doctrinal documents the tasks of building up military biological potential.

"Questions about the real goals of research programs implemented by the Pentagon have been repeatedly raised on various international platforms, but still remain unanswered. We intend to return to their discussion during the upcoming Ninth Review Conference of the BTWC Member States," Igor Kirillov added.

Earlier, Sputnik radio reported that the Russian Federation proposed to form a commission to investigate data on biological laboratories in Ukraine.
