/tass/. The United States has organized a repair base on the territory of Poland for artillery guns supplied to Ukraine. This was reported on Friday by The New York Times, citing sources.

According to them, due to wear and damage sustained during the fighting, about a third of the approximately 350 artillery pieces supplied to Ukraine by Western countries are inoperable. As The New York Times points out, the organization of the repair of these weapons is a priority task of the European Command of the US Armed Forces.

In this regard, the US military has organized a repair base on the territory of Poland. Sources of the newspaper note that in the last few months, maintenance and repair of guns damaged in Ukraine has been carried out at this facility. According to the sources of the publication, the Ukrainian side considers it necessary that such repair bases be located closer to the place of fighting.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request from the leaders of the Donbass republics for help. After that, the West imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia and increased arms supplies to Kiev in the amount of billions of dollars.
