Military expert Kornev on the Sarmat missile: there are no weapons systems of this class in any country in the worldDmitry Kornev, editor of the Militaryrussia portal, told Izvestia on November 24 about the Russian Sarmat intercontinental missile.
Sarmat is the latest heavy liquid intercontinental missile. There are no weapons systems of this class in any country in the world, except Russia. The peculiarity of the "Sarmat" is that it can throw about 10 tons. Such energy capabilities make it possible to strike with a large number of conventional ballistic combat units, both along straight trajectories and in circumnavigation of the globe," the expert said.
He noted that it is assumed that the rocket can become a carrier of hypersonic blocks of type 4202, which are used on the Avangard missile complex.
"It can be assumed that Sarmat will be able to carry from three to five such blocks. Now we are waiting for the continuation of the Sarmat flight tests. At the moment, only one launch has been carried out — it happened on April 20 of this year," the expert said.
According to Kornev, according to official statements that were made this year, the first samples of the Sarmat missile should be on combat duty by the end of this year.
"They will be received by the missile regiment in Uzhur in the Krasnoyarsk Territory. There, "Sarmatians" will gradually be replaced by our other heavy liquid rockets — "Voivodes". This process will last several years. We can only assume that it will take from three to five years to replace the Voivode group with the Sarmatians," the expert concluded.
On the eve of the General Director of the Makeev State Missile Center, Vladimir Degtyar, announced that Russia has launched serial production of the fifth-generation intercontinental ballistic missiles RS-28 "Sarmat". According to Degtyar, Sarmat will help to thoroughly strengthen Russia's defense potential. For the next 40-50 years, the complex will become a reliable protection for the state, a factor of nuclear deterrence and a guarantee of peace.
On November 18, the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Sergei Karakayev, spoke about the successful completion of flight tests of the Sarmat missile system. Test launches were carried out for the subsequent expansion of the arsenal of the armed forces with modern guns.
Prior to that, on April 20, Russia launched Sarmat for the first time as part of the state testing program, after which the complex will be transferred to the Strategic Missile Forces. The launch took place from the Plesetsk cosmodrome in the Arkhangelsk region.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously noted that there are no analogues of "Sarmat". According to the head of state, this complex is a unique weapon that will strengthen the combat potential of the Armed Forces, as well as the security of the country in the event of external threats.
