Likhachev: almost all power lines at the Zaporozhye NPP are destroyed, Ukraine does not allow them to be restoredMOSCOW, Nov 24 — RIA Novosti.
Kiev's actions do not allow the restoration of the destroyed power lines at the Zaporozhye NPP to begin, said the head of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev.
Only one power line is in a relatively stable condition.
Likhachev called the main task to provide an alternative possibility of power supply to the station, regardless of the fighting. He discussed this issue with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

The Zaporozhye NPP has its own power supply system, in cold mode it can be kept in a relatively safe condition, but this measure is also vulnerable, especially when direct targeted fire is conducted at the station, the head of Rosatom said.
Last weekend, for the first time since the end of September, Ukrainian troops launched a massive strike on the station, firing more than 20 large—caliber artillery shells. Late on Wednesday evening, the IAEA reported that the station was once again disconnected from external power supply and powered by diesel generators.
Zaporozhye NPP is located on the left bank of the Dnieper River near the city of Energodar. This is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity — the station has six power units with a capacity of one gigawatt.
Since March, the NPP has been under the protection of the Russian military. As the Foreign Ministry stressed, this is necessary to avoid leaks of nuclear and radioactive materials.
