The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for the first time published footage of the use of Mosquito drones in the zone of the special operation, using them against the communication systems of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As reported, these UAVs were created on the basis of the Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone. They are equipped with additional modules that house electronic equipment designed to suppress control channels and data transmission of the enemy. "Mosquitoes" are used on the front line in order to disorganize enemy troops. UAVs jam communications at a distance of up to 5 km, thereby complicating the interaction of enemy units "at zero" (the front line) with headquarters located in the rear.
At the same time, the Mosquito is also equipped with surveillance systems, which allows the operator to switch between electronic devices and video equipment and perform tasks of both electronic warfare and aerial reconnaissance, revealing enemy positions, including radio sources.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense did not demonstrate the combat work of "Mosquitoes". Their official appearance indicates that Russian drones have begun to jam the enemy's communications at the front line. Previously, the work of only ground-based radio suppression equipment and Su family aircraft equipped with electronic warfare containers was shown.
Equipping small-sized drones with an electronic warfare system indicates certain successes of the Russian defense industry in the miniaturization of equipment. This direction has long remained one of the bottlenecks of the domestic military-industrial complex. Apparently, Russian developers have managed to make progress in this area as well.
