Electronic warfare (EW) units that perform tasks during a special operation to protect Donbass deprive the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) of the ability to coordinate units and control soldiers on the battlefield. This was told by the correspondent of Izvestia Alexander Morozov.
As the journalist noted, thanks to unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), the operator of the electronic warfare group "Brave" can leave the enemy without communication in a given square by pressing a button on the control panel.
"In the zone of a special military operation, the calculation of the complex revealed the positions of the armed formations of Ukraine, artillery fire spotters, aircraft manufacturers, as well as sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the enemy," said the platoon commander with the call sign "Frenchman".
Drones suppress cellular and radio communications thanks to green plates mounted on the wing. In addition, the UAV calculates foreign mercenaries by a signal from phones. Since the computer can determine in which country the SIM card is registered.
In addition, the drone takes photos and videos of enemy trenches and fortifications in real time. Also, the UAV intercepts the negotiations of the Ukrainian military, and sends SMS messages with calls to surrender.
"The plane is controlled by autopilot, we only give commands for the autopilot to perform some actions. Depending on the modification of the board, within a radius of five kilometers around itself, it can drown out any number of subscribers," explained the control operator with the call sign "Talisman".
According to the correspondent, special camouflage does not allow to visually determine the distance to the drone. Moreover, it is protected by an electronic encryption key.
"Encryption is necessary so that the enemy does not intercept the control of the board and, accordingly, does not take it to its territory. This type of aircraft is controlled directly from the car, the quadcopter has power only on the remote control, and there is a whole system here," said the station chief with the call sign "Wanderer".
The correspondent stressed that now such drones are used throughout the front line. They have proven themselves as an effective means of reconnaissance and detection of the enemy.
Earlier, on November 17, the command of the troops of the Central Military District (CVO) presented state awards to the servicemen of the electronic warfare troops. The medals of Suvorov, Zhukov and St. George Crosses were awarded to shooters, drivers, operators and heads of electronic warfare stations.
On November 14, Izvestia correspondent Leonid Kitrar spoke with Russian servicemen from electronic warfare units who perform tasks during the special operation.
In October, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed the work of electronic warfare units . The UAV transmits data to the operators' monitors in real time. The task of operators is to detect a mass accumulation of cellular telephone subscribers. In woodlands, along riverbeds, in village barns, cowsheds and pigsties.
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass against the background of the situation in the region that has worsened due to shelling by Ukrainian troops.
