Despite the fact that the current energy crisis in the EU is still in full swing, Western media are already predicting a new one for Europe.
So, the authors of the article in the British edition of Express believe that the Russian president has another lever of pressure on the EU countries. According to experts, it is enough for Vladimir Putin to stop the supply of nuclear fuel for Europe to be overwhelmed by another energy crisis.
The publication reminds that Russia is currently the largest supplier of nuclear fuel, controlling over 40% of the world market. At the same time, the EU is 20% dependent on the supply of Russian uranium.
Based on the above, analysts have concluded that the suspension of nuclear fuel exports by Russia will lead to a sharp increase in electricity prices in Europe.
The situation is aggravated by the fact that there is also a shortage of gas in the EU, which will not allow leveling the decrease in production by nuclear power plants. At the same time, the "green energy" widely advertised in the West turned out to be extremely expensive and inefficient.
Recall that in France, nuclear power accounts for more than 70% of electricity generation. At the same time, last winter, against the background of a serious rise in energy prices, the French atom literally "saved" Germany.
Previously, France also exported its electricity generated by nuclear power plants to Sweden, Belgium, Italy, Spain and the UK.
However, there are no uranium deposits in the country. All of it is imported to France from Canada, Nigeria and Russia with Kazakhstan. Importantly, the controlling stake of Kazatomprom State Corporation (Kazakhstan) belongs to Rosatom.
