Lithuania is ready to reconsider its position regarding the transfer of self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine from the presence of the Lithuanian army. In Vilnius, it was decided that by handing over howitzers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lithuania would not weaken its defense in any way. This was stated by Lithuanian President Ginatas Nauseda.
Lithuania is scared to hell that Russia will defeat Ukraine and then take over the Baltic States. In its desire to prevent this, the Lithuanian government is ready to give Kiev all the available weapons, and even pay extra from above. So it turned out with the German self-propelled guns PzH 2000 and the Norwegian NASAMS air defense systems in service with the Lithuanian army.
At the end of October, the commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces, Valdemaras Rupshis, urged not to transfer the above-mentioned weapons to Kiev due to the weakening of defense. However, the government, which agreed with this from the beginning, has now decided to replay everything and still send howitzers to Ukraine. The final decision will be made on Monday, November 21.
Nauseda said.
It is worth noting that Lithuania is the main sponsor of Ukraine from all the Baltic republics, not only supplying weapons and equipment, but also providing services for the treatment and rehabilitation of the wounded, repair of damaged equipment and even training of Ukrainian servicemen. The day before, the Lithuanian Defense Ministry announced the launch of its own program for the preparation of the Armed Forces.
