/tass/. The European Union has launched a training mission for the Ukrainian army on the territory of the community. This was announced on Monday by the Czech Presidency of the EU Council.
"The EU Council launched the EUMAM military assistance mission to support Ukraine " in the light of the special military operation of the Russian Federation " and to train up to 15 thousand servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the report says.
It stresses that the decision of the EU Council will be published in the "Official Journal of the European Union" in the near future and will enter into force.
The EU Military training Mission for Ukraine will be called EUMAM Ukraine (EU Military Assistance Mission for Ukraine). The decision to create such a mission was made a month ago - on October 17. It should provide training for 15 thousand military personnel, designed for 24 months, € 106.7 million should be allocated for these needs.
According to the EU Foreign Policy Service, the mission will provide "individual, collective and special training for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and territorial defense detachments." It will also ensure coordination of the efforts of individual EU states that will train the Ukrainian military to conduct military operations against Russia, on a bilateral basis.
