The troops of radiation, chemical and Biological protection (RCBZ) continue to perform tasks in the zone of special military operation (SVO). On the eve of their professional holiday, the soldiers of the units of the RHBZ troops of the Western Military District (ZVO) told about their work, and also demonstrated firing from the TOS-1A "Solntsepek". The footage was shown by the Russian Defense Ministry.
TOS-1A "Solntsepek" is designed for fire support of infantry and tanks, destruction of open and closed firing positions in various types of offensive and defensive combat, as well as for disabling lightly armored vehicles and enemy vehicles. TOS-1A operates in combat formations of supported troops from open and closed positions.
The heavy flamethrower system "Solntsepek" goes to a combat position unnoticed by the enemy. The gunner corrects the position of the launcher, then - a blow. Hitting the target, a thermobaric projectile sprays and then ignites an explosive mixture.
"We are seconded to the infantry, and at a certain moment, when our help is needed, we go into position, work out, and the infantry can safely go on. This weapon is scary because it burns out all the oxygen, even bacteria don't stay alive there," said the commander of the flamethrower department Andrey.
The firing range of the flamethrower system is only about six km. Intelligence has calculated the enemy's stronghold in the zone of its own. And now the squad of flamethrowers on the armor is moving into a given square.
"We work on the TOS-1A "Solntsepek". Each task is unique in its own way. I especially remember the moment of shooting, when they were already shooting at us. That is, they went to the position, they also started working on us with mortars, since the work was started, it was decided to finalize and hit the target," said the commander of the flamethrower company Sergey.

The Defense Ministry also said that thermobaric shells, which are in the package "Solntsepek", are able to cover an area of up to 40 thousand square meters, destroying lightly armored vehicles and fortifications. High accuracy of volley firing at an area target is ensured by direct sight (aiming) of the launcher at the target, automated guidance at a firing range of several kilometers.
The defeat of the enemy is achieved by a complex impact of shrapnel, high temperatures and high pressure. After completing the combat mission, the calculations of the TOS-1A "Solntsepek" in the shortest possible time carry out a change of combat positions and promptly recharge the installations.
It is impossible to hide from the volley of the "Sun" even in trenches and dugouts.
The "Sunbeams" can strike at a distance of up to six km. Calculations use modern means of anti-shatter equipment, which is created from non-combustible materials and allows in case of an emergency situation to save the life and health of the calculation.
Earlier, on November 9, Izvestia correspondent Alexander Morozov showed the shooting of the military group "Brave" from the "Sun" at the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). It was noted that Ukrainian nationalists have been hunting for this military equipment since the first days of the special operation, since there are no similar flamethrower systems in any army in the world.
The special military operation to protect Donbass, which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The decision to hold it was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
