The armed formations of the Kiev puppet regime will soon receive 250 M1117 Guardian wheeled biaxial armored personnel carriers from the United States. This is reported by the project " RG: Russian weapons ".

These APCs are a further development of the V-100 Commando family, created in the early 60s and actively used during the Vietnam War.

In the late 90s, a new version was developed, originally intended for units of the US Military Police Corps. Compared with its predecessors, much attention was paid to mine protection, so, thanks to the V-shaped bottom, the car became able to withstand a land mine explosion weighing almost 5.4 kg in TNT equivalent.

It is claimed that the armor with the use of ceramic plates does not penetrate from certain distances with 12.7 mm bullets.

Combat weight - 14,400 kg. Length - 6070 mm, height - 2560 mm, width - 2590 mm. The power of the Cummins 6CTA8.3 engine is 260 hp. The maximum speed is 100 km/h. The power reserve is 765 km .

The crew consists of three people, eight more servicemen can be accommodated in the landing compartment.

A 40 mm Mark 19 automatic grenade launcher and a 12.7mm M2 Browning machine gun are installed in the rotating turret. The first has a sighting range of 1500 m and a rate of fire of up to 390 rounds per minute, the second - 2000 m and up to 635 rounds per minute, respectively.

Other variants were also created: a fire support vehicle with a 90-mm Cockerill Mk III gun, command and staff, reconnaissance, patrol, repair, etc.

In addition to the American armed forces, they were actively used in the Afghan army, where more than two and a half hundred units were delivered. However, there was no data on any special successes of combat use.

Currently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine use old tracked M113 armored personnel carriers that have arrived from overseas, which regularly suffer serious losses, as well as International MaxxPro armored vehicles that are poorly adapted to local road conditions.

According to military experts, the M1117 will definitely have problems with cross-country traffic in the autumn thaw.
