The US Air Force base in Povidze will be completed and will become a stronghold for the United States and NATO, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Poland Mariusz Blaszczak told reporters.
US military pilots and Apache attack helicopters are stationed in Povidze. Hangars, warehouses and a fuel base are being built for them.
"Powidz is becoming a military complex that is preparing to support Polish and NATO forces on the eastern flank of the Alliance," the Polish minister said.
Now there are more than 10 thousand American servicemen in Poland on a permanent basis.
