According to Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk, Kiev especially needs air defense systemsROME, November 6.
/tass/. Ukraine received various types of weapons from Italy, including heavy artillery, self-propelled artillery units (self-propelled guns) and missile systems. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for the Reintegration of Uncontrolled Territories of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk.
"We have already received heavy artillery, self-propelled artillery units, M113 armored personnel carriers, missile systems, cartridges of various calibers from Italy. Now we especially need air defense systems," she said in an interview published on Sunday with the newspaper Corriere della Sera.
La Repubblica newspaper reported earlier that the Italian authorities should approve the sixth interdepartmental decree on sending weapons to Ukraine by December. In addition, according to her information, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto may decide to publish lists of weapons for Kiev, which have been classified all this time. Italian media have not previously ruled out that the new package may include elements of air defense systems.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has repeatedly confirmed her intention to continue providing assistance to Ukraine. A number of representatives of the ruling coalition of the League and Forward Italy parties express doubts about the need to supply Kiev with weapons. This is opposed by the opposition party "5 Star Movement". At the same time, representatives of the Democratic Party - another opposition force - have always supported sending weapons to Kiev.
