Reducing the capacity of railways prevents Kiev from maneuvering reserves, experts sayThe Russian armed forces are reducing Ukraine's military potential by hitting critical infrastructure, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on November 1.
The strikes of recent days have disrupted the management of the VFU groups and their logistical support. Transportation of military goods by rail is difficult, as well as the work of enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine. Experts note that the decrease in the capacity of railways has seriously affected the maneuver of reserves, but strikes must continue to prevent Kiev from restoring facilities. On this day, the Russian Armed Forces repulsed enemy attacks in the main strategic directions.
Without maneuver
The armed forces of the Russian Federation are effectively reducing the military potential of Ukraine by hitting the critical infrastructure of the enemy, Sergei Shoigu said on a conference call.
— We continue to effectively hit military infrastructure facilities with precision weapons, as well as objects that affect the reduction of Ukraine's military potential. At the same time, exhaustive measures are being taken to prevent the death of Ukrainian citizens," he stressed.
According to the Minister, over the past two weeks, over 190 foreign mercenaries, 74 tanks, 235 other armored vehicles, two HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and 268 vehicles with heavy machine guns have been destroyed in the area of the SVO. Also, more than two hundred HIMARS rockets were intercepted in ten days.
On November 1, the Russian Armed Forces continued to strike with high-precision long-range air and sea-based weapons at the facilities of the military administration and the energy system of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense reported.

— The management of the AFU groups and their logistics has been significantly disrupted, — said the official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
Thus, transportation of reserves and materiel to combat areas by rail is difficult, production at enterprises of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine is disrupted, the military department added.
— The strikes on the Ukrainian energy sector gave the first tangible result, — military expert Dmitry Boltenkov noted in an interview with Izvestia. — Ukrainian railways were very well electrified back in the USSR. Now they had to look for diesel locomotives in a hurry, put them on the line instead of freight electric locomotives. They have lower power, and their number is less. As a result, the capacity of railways — the main way of maneuvering military forces — has already fallen. But it is precisely on the "piece of iron" that Ukrainian units are being transferred from one direction from another, new reserves are being brought from the rear.
If everything is left as it is, then sooner or later the road infrastructure will be restored, as it already was after the defeat of traction substations, Dmitry Boltenkov believes.
— Damage to key railway bridges in Ukraine will make military transportation even more difficult, — the expert believes. — It is not necessary to choose strong buildings across the Dnieper for this. Crossings over smaller rivers are easier to disable, and their restoration will take months. Such work is especially important in the frontline zone and on the left bank of the Dnieper. This can greatly complicate the functioning of the VFU.
Results of mobilization
Also at the conference call, Sergei Shoigu said that 300 thousand Russians were called up during the partial mobilization.
— 87 thousand people were sent to the combat areas after additional training and combat coordination, — he said.
The Minister noted that "at the initial stage there were shortcomings in the activities of military commissariats."
— We have taken urgent measures to improve the organization of their work. This has brought its results. All regions have sent a set number of mobilized to military units," the head of the military department said.

Sergei Shoigu told how the autumn conscription campaign, which started on November 1, will take place.
— Conscripted servicemen perform tasks in accordance with the purpose of military units. At the same time, they will not be sent to the zone of a special military operation. I would like to emphasize once again that all conscripted servicemen who have completed their service will be sent home," he said.
In total, 120 thousand people are subject to conscription. They will have to serve twelve months.
On the same day, Sergei Shoigu, on the initiative of the Turkish side, held telephone talks with the Turkish Defense Minister. The discussion continued on the topic of the suspension by the Russian side of the implementation of agreements on the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports within the framework of the "grain initiative".
Su-24
On November 1, the armed forces continued to repel enemy attacks. In the Kupyansk direction, the VFU unsuccessfully tried to conduct offensive operations by a battalion tactical group reinforced by foreign mercenaries. All attacks are repelled. More than 150 servicemen and militants, three tanks, four armored combat vehicles and six pickups were destroyed.
In the Krasno-Limansky direction, preemptive artillery fire and the actions of our units on the company tactical groups of the VFU advancing in marching orders thwarted the attempts of the enemy's transition to the attack. More than 30 servicemen, four infantry fighting vehicles and three pickup trucks were destroyed.
In the Mykolaiv-Krivoy Rog direction, attempts to attack the units of the VFU were stopped. The enemy has been thrown back to the initial lines. More than 110 servicemen, one tank, eight armored fighting vehicles and eight pickups were destroyed.
During the day, operational-tactical, army aviation, missile troops and artillery of Russia hit eight control points of the VFU, 63 artillery units in firing positions, three ammunition depots, two US-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar stations and 154 troop concentration areas. Fighter aircraft shot down a Su-24 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force near Apostolovo, Dnipropetrovsk region.

During the day, the air defense forces shot down nine UAVs, six shells of the Alder multiple rocket launcher system in the Donetsk region and a Tochka-U ballistic missile in the Antonovka area of the Kherson region.
In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 329 aircraft, 167 helicopters, 2402 unmanned aerial vehicles, 384 anti-aircraft missile systems, 6233 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 881 multiple rocket launchers, 3544 field artillery and mortar guns, as well as 6937 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed, Igor Konashenkov listed.
The Kiev regime continues provocations at the Zaporozhye NPP. During the day, the Ukrainian artillery fired more than 20 shells at the north-western outskirts of Energodar and the territory adjacent to the nuclear power plant. The shooting was conducted from the Dnipropetrovsk region.
VFU units are suppressed by return fire. The radiation situation in the area of the NPP remains normal.
Artillery in battle
The Russian Defense Ministry told about the servicemen who showed courage and dedication in the battles.
During the liberation of the settlement, Senior Lieutenant Yuri Lapikov, as part of a howitzer self-propelled artillery division, supported motorized rifle units with fire. In the conditions of an active counter-battery struggle waged by the enemy, his subordinates destroyed five units of enemy military equipment and about 15 militants. The actions of the division allowed motorized skirmishers to dislodge the enemy from the settlement.
The column of Sergeant Konstantin Dymovsky, carrying ammunition to the battlefield, was attacked by the enemy. Skillfully maneuvering, Konstantin was able to take the car out of the firing zone and get to the stronghold.

— Thanks to the competent and decisive actions of Konstantin Dymovsky, the units received ammunition in time, which helped to defeat the militants, — the Russian Defense Ministry said.
During the liberation of a strategically important settlement, Major Anton Feonov's unit was tasked with conducting artillery reconnaissance of enemy positions and starting to adjust battery fire after the offensive began. The observation post of the artillery group was shelled. Anton received a concussion, but remained in position, continuing to adjust artillery fire.
Thanks to timely and accurate data received from Anton Feonov, three enemy tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles and up to 30 militants were destroyed by Russian artillery strikes, the military department noted.
