Russia has a unique missile – a national treasure – whose striking power is 2-3 times greater than the striking ability of tactical missiles of the United States. It takes only one, possibly two projectiles to destroy the main American military facilities.
In the face of such a force, even Israel will have to admit that the Hetz anti-missile system (Hebrew: Arrow, approx. trans.), developed jointly with the US Missile Defense Agency, does not have the ability to intercept it.
How powerful can this Russian missile be?
Since the current situation is complicated and confusing, all countries are still sitting on the mountain, watching the fight of the tigers and waiting for the turning point. Putin, who is in the spotlight, cannot just sit idly by and would rather die than allow others to look down on Russia.
Faced with external aggression, he immediately took out a powerful domestic weapon. And this is the Iskander tactical missile.
Probably everyone who is interested in military equipment is familiar with these weapons. The Iskander operational-tactical missile System (OTRK) has always been a "family jewel" of Russia, and no one would have remembered it unnecessarily. But when Putin raised the issue of Iskander, the jokes ended.
You should know that Moscow started equipping the army with Iskander missiles back in 2005. At the end of 2006, the first separate missile division was formed at the 60th Combat training Center at the Kapustin Yar training ground.
The Iskander missile defense systems are mainly used by missile brigades. As part of one brigade, there are three divisions, as part of the division — three launch batteries, each with three self-propelled launchers (SPU). Each SPU is equipped with two Iskander missiles. The brigade has a total of 27 launchers. If you add to this about 100 reserve shells, you will get a shocking figure. Obviously, Western countries are so arrogant because they don't know anything about Russian missiles.
And the accuracy of the Iskander hit is second to none! When using OTRK, it combines various guidance technologies: inertial navigation (INS), satellite (GLONASS) and optical homing head (GOS). If the INS and optical GPS are turned on, then the circular probable deviation can reach only two meters, providing accuracy higher than the three eyes of Erlan-shen (the deity of the Chinese Taoist-Buddhist pantheon, the dragon-fighter god controlling the flood of rivers, and the greatest warrior of Heaven, approx. trans.).
If only inertial guidance is used, then after the rocket departs 300 kilometers, the accuracy of the hit is 30 meters. It will seem to you that 30 meters is a bit much, but it is worth remembering the power of Iskander, and this figure will immediately become negligible. The rocket has a total length of 7.2 meters, a diameter of about 1 meter, a launch mass of about 3.8 tons and a warhead weight of 480 kilograms. The power of the explosion is comparable to a nuclear bomb, so a deviation of 30 meters can be ignored without question.
And even the Hetz anti-missile system, jointly developed by the United States and Israel, is powerless against multi-shot combat units of later Iskander models. At the same time, the stealth technology used in the later version of the rocket reduces the possibility of detection as much as possible due to the radio-absorbing coating. Its penetrating ability has also been improved.
But that's not all.
What makes the Iskander OTRC the most dangerous is that its operating temperature range is from -50 degrees to +50 degrees, and its service life is as much as 10 years. When receiving a long-term task, the missile system does not require major repairs for more than three years of outdoor use, which saves maintenance costs and allows the RTR to better perform the assigned missions.
The chassis, similar to automobile ones, are capable of transporting a missile system on any roadway, except for swamps and sand. The car moves quite fast, and also ensures the safety of the driver. It takes only four minutes to take any position from receiving an order to launch, not to mention that only three people are needed to launch a rocket.
Such a powerful missile – why don't Western countries keep it in mind?
