Over 800 specialists in the field of micro- and nanoelectronics, robotics, advanced communication systems and telecommunications will be trained at the Southern Federal University (SFU) for three years. The training takes place on the basis of the advanced engineering school "Cyberplatform Engineering", which was formed at the SFU with the participation of Rostec State Corporation. Investments in the creation of modern educational infrastructure will amount to more than 500 million rubles until 2024. The work is carried out within the framework of the agreement on cooperation in scientific and educational fields signed between Rostec and SFU in September last year.

It provides for free additional training of students and retraining of existing engineers who acquire new knowledge in the field of IT, robotics, 3D modeling and other disciplines.

"We have invested more than 130 million rubles in the creation of an engineering school at the SFU. An additional 395 million is planned to be invested in 2023-2024. These funds are used to purchase computer systems, software, advanced production equipment and other equipment that allows young professionals to gain relevant theoretical knowledge and important practical skills. The training of engineers and IT specialists is conducted in accordance with the most modern requirements. In the next three years, about 800 students will undergo such training," said Alexander Nazarov, Deputy Director General of Rostec State Corporation.

The advanced engineering School of the Southern Federal University is working on tasks aimed at the development and implementation of autonomous unmanned systems that partially replace a person in terms of assessing the situation, making decisions and coordinating interaction. Examples of such systems are promising complexes with elements of artificial intelligence for network-centric warfare, high-tech robotic production, power grid systems with distributed SmartGrid control, robotic groups for conducting combat operations in the city, biotechnical systems.

"The training of modern personnel is of strategic importance for the country. Cooperation between SFU and Rostec in the educational field is systematic and fruitful. Together with the State Corporation, we have seriously modernized the infrastructure of the university, a system of targeted training of engineering personnel has been built. In addition, the opportunity to participate in the leading high–tech projects of the Russian industry strongly motivates students, they feel their demand," said Inna Shevchenko, Rector of the Southern Federal University.

Two engineering centers have also been established at the SFU, performing R&D for Rostec companies – the United Instrument-Making Corporation, KRET Concern and others. In addition, the creation of a Center for the unification and development of competencies in the field of intelligent control technologies and robotics is being worked out. Its tasks will include the formation of a bench base and the development of systems for confirming the technical characteristics of robotic complexes.

It is also planned to modernize the Technology Transfer Center of the Engineering and Technology Academy of the University and open new competence centers for students - not only on the basis of the SFU, but also at the sites of State Corporation enterprises.

"The Corporation and its organizations are facing an urgent issue of attracting IT specialists who are able not only to write a high-quality program, but also to ensure its operation on domestic hardware, as well as those who have formed their knowledge and skills at the intersection of robotics, instrumentation, 3D modeling, IT architecture, software development and operation, creation and the operation of automated stands for checking manufactured products, IT security and others. Such competencies make it possible to solve major technological tasks that directly ensure the technological sovereignty of Russia, which means strengthening security and improving the quality of life of the country's population. It should be noted that the programs developed by the SFU, including within the framework of the PISH, are planned to be scaled up to the entire radio-electronic complex of the Corporation, which will significantly reduce the time, cost and improve the quality of training of IT specialists," said Yulia Tsvetkova, Director of Personnel Management.

The state Corporation cooperates with almost all leading Russian universities of federal and regional significance. Specialists are trained in the most popular areas. Almost all Rostec companies are involved in the work, while the training programs are compiled in such a way that the graduate at the exit meets the needs of a particular production as much as possible.
